Leon Camier has set himself a modest target for this weekend's British Superbike races at
Mallory Park after struggling to 11th place in qualifying.
The
Snetterton winner was hoping to continue his form through to this weekend, but while he has shown well in practice, a negative set-up change after free practice placed him on the back foot during qualifying.
Struggling for grip in the slower corners, the closeness of the riders around the Leicestershire circuit meant he would emerge just half a second off pole sitter Tom Sykes, but down on the third row of the grid.
“We had a few little problems,” he told
Crash.net Radio. “We made the wrong decision with the set-up and although I felt like I was riding quite well, in the slow corners each time I was being pushed wide.
“We didn't figure out how to sort it out until later in the session, but it was too late by then. I am really disappointed with that.”
Furthermore, Camier isn't feeling too optimistic about his chances in the races either, the 21-year-old consigning himself to a best of around fifth place around a circuit not conducive to overtaking opportunities.
“You need to be on the front row around here in order to get a good start. “I am going to be pushing for around fifth place, because I podium is going to be
really difficult. If you are quicker than somebody, it is only by a couple of tenths, so if I am stuck in traffic and the leaders are able to get away, then it will be really difficult.”
