Guy Martin put the disappointment of the TT behind him by taking victory in the Southern 100 race on the Billown Circuit on the Isle of Man this week.
Riding the Shaun Muir Racing 1000cc Honda Fireblade, Martin was fastest in practice around the 4.25-mile circuit before translating that into a clear victory over Ryan Farquhar and Ian Lougher to take the Solo Founders Race.
Also breaking the lap record in the process, Martin's hopes of further success in the Solo Championship race, however, were dashed when he retired from second place with a puncture.
Nonetheless, the British Superbike rider was pleased with his performance over the two days, particularly after the frustration of the TT.
"It's been mint and I've really enjoyed the week, it's been good to get back to basics,” he said. “I'm delighted with a win and a new lap record but today didn't go quite to plan.
“This has turned my season round and I'm feeling so chilled out, in fact I'm going for a beer with six lads who have just turned up wearing stick-on sideburns. Absolutely fantastic!" he joked
"The deal with Guy for this week was he went off and did his own stuff on our bikes and I'm really pleased he got the win after the disappointment of the TT,” added team Owner Shaun Muir.
“Who knows, it maybe will turn his season round as it's a win on the Isle of Man which he has been striving for so hard this season!"
