Cal Crutchlow was in an exasperated mood following the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship after seeing two pole positions translate into a second and sixth place finish.
Looking to make up for the fall dislocated ankle he suffered at
Oulton Park last time he raced there, Crutchlow's luck seemed to be out in the second race when he clipped a kerb and suffered a fall.
Although back on the bike straight away, Crutchlow dropped from second to eighth and while he battled his way back up to sixth place again, it was staunch reward for his efforts.
“In race one on lap 10 I clipped the kerb with the engine cases at Britten's and went down out of second place. It was annoying but I got straight back on and recovered to a sixth place finish, which obviously wasn't what I wanted.
Still, Crutchlow went some way to make amends in the second race by battling his way back up to second place after a sluggish start. Battling it out with Shane Byrne on the final lap, Crutchlow eventually got the better of the championship leader.
Nonetheless, with his title hopes fading by the round, Crutchlow admits he is frustrated to have not tasted the winner's champagne since
Brands Hatch two months ago.
“The second outing was a good race and I enjoyed it, despite not getting the win we wanted so much. I just don't know what we have to do to win at the moment, but everyone in the team is working so hard I know we will win again soon."
