Simon Andrews has revealed that he won't be fully fit again until the end of the Bennetts British Superbike season, but added that he will soldier on after a physically demanding weekend at Cadwell Park.

The Lloyds Jentin rider has been struggling with a hand and knee injury as the legacy of an injury sustained in training last month, but while he finished the Cadwell Park weekend with two top ten finishes, he admits he was reeling from the after-effects of it.

On the plus side, Andrews has moved up to eighth in the overall standings after strong seventh and sixth place finishes, results that surprised him given it will be months until he is back to full strength.

“I am happy with that,” he told Crash.net Radio. “I saw the physios earlier and it is still another four weeks until my hand is healed and even longer for my knee, so I thought we'd struggle.

“It surprised me how physical this place is compared to Knockhill, but we had two really good results and we beat a factory team in the second race, so we've moved up in the championship too.”

“We've only done six lap sprints all weekend, but when I was looking at the dash and it said lap ten, I was really wishing it would end. I caught Rutter and Crutchlow in the first race, so if I had been fit, then I might have got them, but I didn't have the strength and determination.”
