Joshua Brookes showed exactly why he is one of the best Supersport riders in the world at the moment as he snatched pole position for the final British round of the season at Brands Hatch.

Making a guest appearance aboard the HM Plant Honda, Brookes has steadily worked his way up the timesheets over the course of the weekend, eventually culminating in him beating new champion Glen Richards to the pole spot.

Describing the bike as ‘spot-on', Brookes was delighted to claim pole position on his first attempt.

“The HM Plant CBR600RR is coming along real well. We had a good day on it yesterday and then we made some changes for this afternoon and it feels pretty spot-on. The times were pretty close, but we just about had enough of a gap on Glen to keep him in second.

“I know part of the track from my time here in the World Supersport championship and while it would be nice to do the full circuit, the Indy circuit is still fun, so we'll just get on with it!”

His efforts were also praised by team manager Havier Beltran, who has been impressed by the conduct of the Aussie rider.

Josh has done a brilliant job for us. When you think he first went out on a damp track here but has been steadily chipping away at the times and using his head. Sometimes when it's been damp he's not even gone out as he knows he has nothing to prove and there's nothing to gain by crashing the bike.”
