Shane Byrne consolidated his pole position ahead of today's two Bennetts British Superbike races by going fastest in morning warm-up at Brands Hatch.

Making the most of beautiful October sunshine, Byrne was the man to beat during the short 15 minute session as he recorded a lap time of 46.263secs.

That was enough to put him ahead of his fellow front row sitters, although Tom Sykes led the way this time over Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow. Haslam, meanwhile, will be racing in considerable strapping following his fall in qualifying.

Byrne's team-mate Leon Camier was fifth quickest, ahead of Michael Rutter and James Ellison, while Tristan Palmer made his first appearance in the top ten this weekend by going a strong eighth best.

Simon Andrews and Gary Mason completed the top ten, the latter proving the best of the Superbike Cup riders.
