Martyn Bell: Consistency is key.

In his latest column for Crash.net, Martyn Bell looks back over the penultimate round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch, and talks about his crusade to take the BTCC to Cadwell Park.

People remember the first race and the last race as the cliché goes. My first race was a disaster so lets hope may last race will be a good one. Once you can get on the back of the train, they pull you on. Paul O’Neill was telling me how good the car looked and how important that was – to get on the back like we did at Knockhill and let them pull you with them. I said to Rob Collard when he was behind at Croft that I’d let him through and I thought I’d get told off by Geoff, but Rob thanked me afterwards for it and I said that I’d learn more from being behind him than he would learn from me. It’s not the racers thing but we are learning this year like we knew we would.

Admittedly, we did expect to be further up the grid and I expected our times to be better this weekend if you want the truth, but we are consistent, are finishing races and not making clowns of ourselves. However, as these big budget teams show – money talks.
