Personally I think had we been on pole we would have won the third race; in fact I think we would have absolutely wiped the floor with them. We didn’t have any ballast in that race and the car was blindingly quick – we even got fastest lap. We just got held up a little bit too much by Darren Turner, who made his SEAT as wide as he could. Then one lap he made a bit of a mistake on the exit of Clearways which allowed me to get on the power a bit earlier and get the drive down the straight and round the outside into Paddock Hill Bend. Although in some ways it really wasn’t our weekend, I think we managed to prove a few points.
We go to Rockingham next, which I think is going to be mega. A lot of negatives have been said about the
BMW on Dunlop tyres and its rear wheel-drive, but I think what we showed at
Brands Hatch really nipped that in the bud. We made a point that the BMW is good and the Dunlop tyres work extremely well on it. Rockingham is obviously a much faster-flowing, more open circuit, and I think that should play into the hands of the Bee-Emm.
You never know what things are going to happen that are out of your control, but I firmly believe we can go to Rockingham and come away with some very good results.
I’ll keep you posted,
Mat
