If I look back at the weekend as a whole, I am encouraged by the pace I showed on my first appearance in the car and am coming away from
Brands Hatch feeling very positive. As I said at the start of the year, I’m not necessarily chasing the drivers’ title this season and we’ll have to see how that pans out over the course of the year, but that isn’t on my goal list at the moment. With that in mind, to come away from my opening race weekend confident and knowing that I can run at the top is a fantastic feeling.
It was a hard fought weekend on track at Brands and I think fans can expect to see much of the same for the rest of the season. There are going to be a few cars that were in the middle of the pack that are going to come on as teams improve them and get them quicker, while there are other drivers who need to get used to it and will come into their own.
Next up is Rockingham and I haven’t yet set myself any goals for the second round of the year – I’m still enjoying the buzz from the opening one!
I
will be setting myself some goals before the weekend gets underway there and as a racing driver you want to go out there and win everything, but that just isn’t possible – at least not at the moment! I’ll set myself some targets before Rockingham but I’ll be thinking carefully about what those targets are first...
Until then,
Tom
