I’ve not tried to speak to Jason or Darren to find anything out about the Leon, and to be honest with you, I don’t think they’d tell me a great deal anyway! We’ll be trying to give them a run for their money but of course they are running the diesel this year which will be a whole different ball game for them. I’m sure they are wracking their brains about that as it will be a whole different kettle of fish so we just have to get on with the job at hand as we know what we need to do and want to try and give them a run for their money. The SEAT is a competitive car and has shown it can win with a diesel in the WTCC so they will be trying to get as much mileage as they can in the BTCC to be as competitive as that. At the moment we don’t know how strong they will be but they will do a good job and have two good drivers so they should be fighting for the title with everyone else.
We know the plan now is to do all ten rounds so we want to try and come away from this season with some trophies and recognition for what we hope to achieve this season. If we could into the top three in the Independents’ championship this year then that is something that I would be happy with and the team would be happy with; and that is our objective. I’d love to win some races and if the chance is there to do that, then I intend to take it.
Last year with the Toledo, it was close at Brands and then even closer at
Donington, so we showed the potential is there. Hopefully this year, with a more competitive package behind, there is no reason why I can’t be talking to you later in the year with a big smile on my face because we’ve got a win.
