For sure Paul would like to run two cars and it always makes sense to run more than one car. It would be good for me and whoever was in the second car as you can do two things instead of one in practice to find out what is the right thing to do, as we only have two short practice sessions in the BTCC and there is a lot to get through. A two-car team is always a plus and the likes of Vauxhall, SEAT, RAC and Halfords will take advantage of that so it will be tough for us with one car for now. We just have to get on with it, do a better job than last and push all the way.
As for the British GT programme in the Lamborghini, I’m really looking forward to it. It’s been a long winter as most drivers would tell you and it seems to be twice as long as it actually is because you are so desperate to get back out there again.
Last year it was a new car so we had to learn it and iron out any problems that we had, such as the engine issue we have and some little niggles along the way. But the reason for that was because we wanted to run everything to its life so we knew when it would break because with most cars, there is a lifespan when it is recommended to change things. We had a car out of the box and missed the start of the season so it became almost a glorified test session for us really throughout the season. We wanted some good results but we wanted to know how long things would last to benefit our knowledge for this year and that is why I feel we are as prepared as possible to launch an assault on the championship.
Over the winter we have replaced certain parts that we may have had issues with and also stocked up on parts we’ll need. It’s not all about the car, so there has been things like getting the right personnel in as there as has been a little change around and getting the truck ready, but we are as prepared as we can be for the first race.
