Crash.net's Rockingham blog: Sunday.

Sunday, 13th April 2008

Crash.net is running an exclusive blog during the second rounds of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season at Rockingham – check back for more behind-the-scenes news during the day...

Sunday eve - How it stands

So after a torrential downpour put the cat amongst the pigeons on race three, it's Fabrizio Giovanardi who once again ends the weekend on top of the standings, although the Italian wasn't really in contention in any of the three races. His lead is now seven points over Mat Jackson, while Gordon Shedden has jumped up to third.

Team Halfords are now the closest challengers to Vauxhall in the team standings, while Adam Jones has closed in on Mat Jackson in the Independents' standings.

Next stop Donington in three weeks time.

Sunday eve – Eurotech wins

It might have been a weekend to forget at Rockingham, but at least there was some success for Team Eurotech albeit it hundreds of miles away in Scotland in the British GT Championship.

David and Godfrey Jones took victory in the latest race of the year in their Ascari KZ1 although Mike Jordan wasn't taking anything for granted.

“I've had two text messages on my phone,” he said. “One saying the Jones' had won and then another saying they had been called before the stewards.

“Knowing how today has gone, I think I can guess which way it's going to go.”

No need to worry Mike. The result stands and the boys have done you proud.

Sunday pm - Jones wins the draw

The top eight places will be reversed for the final race of the weekend after Mat Jackson drew his number from the goldfish bowl, putting Adam Jones on pole in the Aircool SEAT Leon.

It means Jason Plato misses out despite a determined drive through the field in his diesel Leon after an early pitstop.

Sunday am – The final weekend for the MG?

Jason Hughes has previously announced his plans to run a Honda Integra this season but his MG ZS has continued to soldier on at both Brands Hatch and then again this weekend – so when will the Integra arrive?
