Eurotech: Strong relationships.

Tuesday, 20th May 2008

In the latest John Guest Racing/Eurotech column on Crash.net, Carl Gray and Mike Jordan reflect on one of the most well known partnerships on the British motor sport scene.

But he is also very caring about the racing as I’m sure in the motorhome on the way back, he will want to talk more about how I got on in the last race than how he got on. He is very aware that he is getting a lot of publicity and is doing good things but I’ve heard him talking to people when we have been doing autograph sessions recently. You get people who come along and you get the odd interesting comment along the lines of 'Been showing your dad how to do it again then?' but at Donington he had a little niggle and said 'I’ll have to win a lot of championships before I can show my dad up'. So he is very aware of how it is and I couldn’t be happier with it.

I was going to stay at the track tonight as I’m normally tired at the end of the race day but I have to go home tonight to watch race three as I’ve had loads of calls to say the boy was amazing and I have to go and watch it.

Crash.net:
For you Carl, it is pleasing to see Andy run like that in race three, but how well do you think these guys will run over the remainder of the season?

CG:
We were talking about it just before you came in. In the second race, he had an amazing run which wasn’t really picked up by the TV. He got spun out by Jelley and dropped to the back of the grid but drove through to ninth which put him on pole for the final race. Andy coming through is good for us, but I don’t know how much more they can do this year.

The grid is very competitive and you can have a good day and still be ninth or tenth. Look at someone like Shedden who I think is a great driver, but sometimes he is only able to fight for twelfth. I don’t know if we will have the same success we had last year in terms of podiums, but in terms of entertainment value, we will give it our all.

Team Eurotech was formed in 1987 and has since gone on to win more than 30 championships, including the British GTO crown and the Porsche Cup. 2008 will see Eurotech continue its long-running partnership with sponsors John Guest as the team expands to a two-car BTCC effort for the first time.
