Looking to Mondello, I still want to go into the weekend from a point of view that I would rather talk about what I’ve done rather than what I’m going to do. But I’ve never been to Mondello so I’m going to have to get the road map out or the ‘sat-nav’ set up so I can get there! After viewing it on the kids Playstation, I’m looking forward to it, but then again I’m looking forward to it all now. After that we go to
Oulton Park and that is a lot like Cadwell Park in a way and I have done more laps there then anywhere else. Then of course there is
Thruxton and I’m
really looking forward to that, where the power and straight-line speed of the
BMW might be an advantage because it is fast. Anything can happen on touring car weekends though. Mark Proctor had problems this weekend, so did Fiona Leggate and so did David Pinkney – even the Halfords cars had problems. It’s just your luck on the day.
Mike Jordan had problems as well but I just have to say that he is an absolute star – to me he is such a nice man and it was him who orchestrated the gearbox for us. I met him for the first time on the media day and I immediately thought he was nice. Then again, everyone at our end of the pit-lane is really nice, we all seem to get on and I don’t have a problem with anyone on the grid – although that might change in time! I just have to get that in though, that Mike is a superstar and anything I can do to help him out in the future I’ll do. His team are a credit to him because without him I wouldn’t have scored a point over the weekend. But I’m grinning because we’re rivals on track but help each other off track and I think that’s really good.
Just to finish, that first meeting was a great experience. The nervous feeling that you get is something I want more of. I’m like an adrenaline junkie and now I know what it feels like to be there, I want it more and more. Hopefully I’ll have the luck of the Irish when we get to Mondello Park!!
Until next time
