Before
Knockhill we have the demonstration on the streets of Edinburgh which will be great. I’m only used to driving round the streets of the village where I live – only joking – but it will be fun. I’ve only ever heard the car from the inside but people keep telling me it is one of the best sounding out there and it will probably rattle and crackle once I’m running up those streets and will hopefully impress the fans.
Knockhill is a twisty circuit that has tended to work against the
BMW but I’m going to say that it won’t do this time around. We’ve got the sequential gearbox in now which we didn’t have at
Brands Hatch and Mondello Park and there is no reason why we shouldn’t go well up there. We want to score points and want to put on a good show for our sponsors and we are making the long journey full of optimism.
We feel we should have been where we are now at the start of the season and it is no secret that we have been on our back heels a little bit. We are getting to grips with the car and the lap times are consistent – they just aren’t quite quick enough at the moment. We can build on the lap times and we are getting positive data from the tyres and the telemetry – we’re not looking for full seconds anymore, we are looking for half a second here and half a second there.
We seem to have jumped onto the back of the next bunch of cars that we want catch and now our focus has to be on moving forwards to the head of that group.
Anyway, it’s back to the sun for me and I’ll speak to you again soon.
Until next time,
MB
