After a somewhat trying start to the 2007 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season, Nick Leason is to miss this weekends rounds at Croft as BTC Racing seeks to fix the gremlins plaguing his Lexus IS200.
Leason, who made an eleventh hour switch to the team prior to the start of the season, has seen his campaign to date dogged by poor luck and mechnical faults which have seen the Northampton based racer spend as much time on the sidelines as he has on the race track.
In an effort to now get to the root of Leason's problems, the team will field just one car this weekend at Croft for Chris Stockton while the sister car will continue to be worked on ahead of a test next week prior to the next round at
Oulton Park later in the month.
“It's been a hard decision by the team to only put one car out at Croft but the correct one long term as we want to make sure it's right this time and not just make up the numbers and be doing a handful of laps at the weekend,” Leason explained.
“We have had so much bad luck right from the start of the season with reliability problems and two of my engines blowing. It's always going to be hard trying to develop a car in the public eye and we knew that. We are now 100 per cent certain we have discovered the problem but unfortunately not in time to get it ready properly for
Croft.
“From our discovery the team has made some changes to Chris Stockton's car to hopefully sort his problems out as well and hope to see big improvements for this weekend for him. I will be still attending Croft to cheer Stockton on and help out with the team. We now just want to start moving forward and get rid of the run of bad luck we have had and start to put in some solid results."
