Rick Kerry is set to miss the latest rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at
Donington Park this weekend due to a mechanical problem on his
BMW 120d.
The AFM Racing driver enjoyed a noticeable improvement in form last time out at
Oulton Park as the team continues to develop the first diesel powered car in the BTCC, but suffered from a diff problem in Cheshire which resulted in work needing to be done ahead of the Donington weekend.
However, a further issue with the diff has left the team racing against time to make it to the sixth round of the year – with Kerry admitting it was unlikely the BMW will be able to line up on the grid.
"We had a problem with the diff at Oulton Park and we discovered that there were two bolts missing from it," he told
Crash.net. "In trying to fix the problem, we have had a bolt shear in the diff which means it will need to be stripped back and it's a race against time for us to get it sorted. It means we aren't likely to make it to Donington Park as we need a bit of a miracle today to get the work done in time.
"It's a shame because Donington is a circuit I like, but if we can't make it then we'll just start looking forward to the next round at
Snetterton which is a big weekend for us as our home meeting."
