After a season that has lurched from one problem to another, Eoin Murray finally saw luck turn his way at Snetterton after securing a double points finish from the latest rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Things didn't go to plan at the start of the weekend for the Quest Racing driver after further issues with the Alfa Romeo 156 left him short of track time ahead of qualifying. However, despite that, he managed to qualify in a solid 13th place for the opening race.

The Irish driver climbed up to ninth place in race one before suffering a broken engine mount which prevented him from climbing any higher. Having dropped behind points leader Jason Plato, he looked set to still secure a single point for tenth before another mount broke and he was forced to retire just a lap from the finish.

“I was comfortable in ninth position until the mount broke,” he reflected. “After that it was a case of staying off the kerbs and try to nurse the car home. Unfortunately the other mount broke two laps from the finish. I was actually amazed it lasted that long.”

The non finish in race one meant Murray had to start from 20th position the second race but by lap ten he had climbed into the points having set the quickest Independent lap time of the race. Continuing to push, he climbed to seventh by the finish which would prove to be just one place away from pole for the final race due to the reverse grid draw.

In the final race, Murray secured tenth place on the tail of a long train of cars dicing for the points to complete his best race day of the season to date.

“This was our best race so far this season,” he said. “We had trouble on Saturday which meant we were a little compromised for a perfect setup. Although the results were good I don't think they really reflected our true race pace.
