Blanckley ‘lives the dream' but brings BTCC campaign to an early end.

Simon Blanckley has announced his immediate withdrawal from the 2007 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on the eve of the eighth round of the season at Brands Hatch.

The Sibsport driver, who joined the series at the start of the season driving an ex-Team Halfords Honda Integra, had produced some impressive performances during his debut season but has now been forced to curtail his season early due to work commitments.

“The decision that has been made is obviously a really, really tough one to make,” he said. “I lived my personal dream of racing in the BTCC and I have no regrets. I would like to thank all the members of the team, the sponsors and all the supporters that have helped me develop throughout the season.

“Sibsport as a team will continue and I'm looking forward to my next challenge.”
