Snetterton winner sees Brands Hatch qualifying hit by traffic.

Tom Onslow-Cole will start the latest round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship from eighth place after seeing traffic ruin his qualifying session at Brands Hatch.

The Team RAC driver, who took his maiden win last time out at Snetterton, was hoping to match the pace displayed by team-mate Colin Turkington during the session to join the Northern Irish driver near the front of the field but saw traffic, a red flag and the arrival of rain hamper his challenge.

“I got held up early on and then the red flag stopped the session mid-way through and then on my final run, the track was slightly greasy and there was oil at the exit of Druids so I just didn't manage to string all my quick sectors together on one lap, while the tyres were at their best,” he said.

“It's very disappointing actually after the great start we had this morning. The car was fairly quick straight out of the box but I just didn't seem to be able to squeeze any more out of it when I needed to. We changed a lot of different things, we changed the set-up on the car but whatever we did the times just didn't come.

"The car felt really good but I just didn't seem to get it together this afternoon. My times were improving but I didn't get on top of things. I'm hoping for a good start off the line tomorrow to boost my changes."
