Snetterton winner enjoys 'solid' Brands Hatch.

Tom Onslow-Cole has maintained his position inside the top ten in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship standings despite finding himself at the centre of some of the main action at Brands Hatch.

The Team RAC man went into the weekend on the back of his maiden win in the series last time out at Snetterton, qualified in eighth place on the grid but managed to avoid the carnage caused by an accident in race one to finish in a solid fifth. However, his second race would come to an early end, with contact with team-mate Colin Turkington and SEAT's Darren Turner off the line forcing him to retire.

Despite being forced to the back of the field for race three as a result, Onslow-Cole was soon making up places and became embroiled in a heated battle for position with Adam Jones in the Team Aircool SEAT.

Having swapped positions numerous times, the pair made contact in the closing stages which allowed Jason Plato to get through, but Onslow-Cole still brought his BMW 320si home in sixth place as team-mate Colin Turkington took his third win of the year.

“It's not been a fantastic weekend, but not bad I suppose,” Onslow-Cole reflected. “I've had some good races and definitely got some positives to take out of it and some more points. I had a really good third race, I didn't start too well though, probably one of the worst this year, so then I had to really push extra hard and steal places where I could.

“But I had some really good battles throughout and it was good fun race to drive. In race two the collision caused us to bend a track-rod and that was it really, while in the first race, I was held up a bit by Turner who was riding shotgun for Plato and defending well. But it was another solid weekend and a good result for Colin in the final race.”
