BMW man secures solid second place at Knockhill.

Colin Turkington produced a fine performance in qualifying for the penultimate rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill to secure a place on the front row of the grid in Scotland.

The Team RAC man was on the pace throughout the qualifying session at the wheel of the BMW 320si but was unable to find the extra tenth of a second needed to bump Darren Turner off pole position.

When the session drew to a close, Turkington was just 0.174secs away from putting the BMW on top of the pile, although he was still pleased with how things had panned out.

"It was a good qualifying performance for me,” he said. “I was a little on the back foot in the free practice sessions but the set-up came together for me in qualifying.

“I progressed quite well in the session and got a competitive time. I feel I'm in a pretty strong position for tomorrow."
