Scot settles for second row at Knockhill after tightly fought session.

Gordon Shedden was forced to settle for a place on the second row of the grid after a hard fought qualifying session for the penultimate round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The Team Halfords driver went into his home round of the season eager to impress the Scottish fans and was on the pace from the outset in his Honda Civic as he posted the quickest time in the opening free practice session.

Shedden followed that up by posting the second quickest time in the second practice session – just 0.006secs behind Darren Turner – but was then forced to settle for third come qualifying, behind both Turner and Colin Turkington.

“I gave it everything but Darren's time was really good,” he said. “Obviously, there's a lot of talk about can I win in front of my home crowd. Nothing would give me greater pleasure, of course, but the only thing I can predict is that tomorrow's races will be fantastic for those watching at the track and on television.”
