Scot secures home glory at Knockhill.

Gordon Shedden secured the win he has been dreaming of at Knockhill as the Scot took victory on home soil in the latest rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The Team Halfords man, who endured an action packed home meeting last season, qualified on the second row of the grid in his Honda Civic and looked set to achieve his goal of winning in front of the Scottish fans as he hunted down the SEAT Leon of race leader Darren Turner.

However, contact between the two at the Hairpin as Shedden went for the lead damaged the suspension on the Honda Civic and forced the home hero to retire, while also ensuring he would start the second race down in twelfth place on the grid.

A storming drive in race saw Shedden just miss out on the podium but in the final race he was able to help Team Halfords to a first 1-2 finish with the Civic as he led team-mate Matt Neal home for a popular win – celebrated with a rendition of Scotland the Brave on the top of the podium.

"This is out of this world, absolutely mega," he admitted. "I was quick here last year and things conspired against me and with a non-finish in race one I thought I was on for the same bad luck again. To be forced to retire from that race was soul destroying as I was quicker than Darren and I think I could have romped away to victory. I went up the inside for what was going to be a clean move and I think Darren just saw me late and the contact bent the suspension on my car. However, to come back to take a win in race three is great. Knockhill in the sunshine with a large crowd, is there a better place to do it?!

"This is the first 1-2 for Team Halfords with this new Honda Civic and proves we are really getting there with this car. It's just a disappointment that we have to wait six weeks now until Thruxton! I hope we can be quick there as we are making progress in leaps and bounds now. There will be a lot going on with the title on the line and hopefully we can be in amongst it and at the sharp end."
