Eoin Murray is to join forces with the A-Tech squad for the final rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at
Thruxton next weekend,
With a number of key team members working at a clashing event, the Quest Racing driver who will still compete under his regular team banner will act as team-mate to the returing Dave Pinkney in the A-Tech line-up, with Richard Marsh not taking part in the weekend. Pinkney will drive Marsh's car following the accident at
Brands Hatch that forced him to miss the last round of the season at
Knockhill.
For Murray, the weekend will give him one last chance to impress this season after a campaign that has been dogged by bad luck, meaning that he has only nine points to his name heading back to Hampshire.
It really annoys me that it's not happened, the Irish driver reflected to
BTCC.net. Every driver has a bad season but when you have one like mine with lots of mechanical problems. I feel I've driven to the best of my ability but the results just don't show that. It's been frustrating.
I think
Snetterton showed just how competitive I can be when the car runs trouble-free I wrung the maximum from the car and got a sixth my best so far. I also qualified fifth at Rockingham but then didn't start the races because of car problems. When things go wrong that just shouldn't happen not even on a tiny budget like ours it's very tough.
Murray will have chance to shake-down his Alfa Romeo prior to the weekend, the first time this season that that will have been the case, and he said he was eager to end his season on a high.
Every race meeting we've done we've had problems in practice so want to get a shakedown beforehand to try and eradicate that possibility, he said. We should be better prepared and some of the Quest guys will still be working on my car at Thruxton just in A-Tech's awning, that's all. It should work well between me and Pinkney.
