Having been forced to miss the trip to Knockhill, Erkut Kizilirmak admits he can't wait to return to action in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship as the season draws to close this weekend at Thruxton.

The Arkas Racing man was unable to compete in Scotland last month due to a family wedding back in Istanbul which means he hasn't competed at the wheel of his Astra Sport Hatch for nearly two months.

With confidence still high following a maiden top-ten finish at Brands Hatch on his last outing in the car, the Turkish champion will aim to add to his points tally and also maintain his position inside the top ten of the Independents' championship standings.

"We're very happy to be back in action in the BTCC," he said. "I've really missed the racing over the last couple of months and although it might take a little bit of time to get fully up to speed again during the practice sessions, I'm confident we can have a strong weekend as we're definitely improving every time we compete. It should be great fun!"

The team is also focusing on the longer term, with the aim being to ensure that two cars are on the grid for the start of the 2008 season at Brands Hatch next March.

"Erkut has progressed very well this year and it's been a good season, we've very much enjoyed it," Arkas Racing's Yalcin Arsan said. "But to progress more, we want to have a second driver in the team in 2008 as a priority.

"With two cars in the BTCC, not only will Arkas be stronger but Erkut will be able to improve even more."
