Dave Pinkney will be looking to end his season in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on a high at Thruxton – and also earn some extra money in the process.

The A-Tech driver made a bet with series director Alan Gow last year stating that he would win a race in 2007 - and gave the boss a minor scare on the last visit to Thruxton earlier in the year when he took advantage of the reverse grid rules to lead the final race for a while before eventually slipping back to finish 13th.

However, since then, the team has worked hard to improve the Alfa Romeo 156 although Pinkney will be forced to switch cars this weekend to the one previously raced by Richard Marsh with his own car having been destroyed in the first race shunt at Brands Hatch, an accident that also forced the team to miss the trip to Knockhill for the penultimate meeting of the year.

Plus, we have the very latest specification Alfa engine for this meeting."

As for the bet...

"I bet Gow £10,000 at last year's BTCC Awards I'd win a race in 2007," he added. "He'd better have his chequebook ready...
