“That race seemed to go on forever," he said on the podium. "I had a clear idea of the situation. It's absolutely fantastic! But it'll probably take a while to sink in."

In the final meeting of the 2007 Blaupunkt SEAT Cupra Championship, Jonathan Adam finally made his New Leon Cupra class title official, while Harry Vaulkhard secured the Leon Cupra R class crown with a third place finish in round 19. Both drivers will now receive a test in a SEAT BTCC test along with Fulvio Mussi and Carl Breeze who finished their close battle in second and third places respectively in the New Leon Cupra class.

"The car was getting better all weekend but not quite enough to get a last win," Adam said after a double podium, "but it's been a cracking season, and I'll never forget that first win at Knockhill!"

Vaulkhard meanwhile celebrated his 22nd birthday in style with a solid podium finish in the opening race being enough to give him the Cupra R crown.

“I'm just over the moon and very proud,” Vaulkhard said. “It was either going to be the best birthday of my life or the worst and it's just great to win my first title, I don't think it's quite sunk in yet.

“I'm looking forward to the test later this month but the main thing to me is the prestige of winning the title. It would have been nice to have won a race on my birthday but I wrapped-up the championship with a podium finish in the first race. I'll be doing some celebrating with my friends and family now.”

Martin Byford took the Clio Cup title thanks to a second place finish in the penultimate race of the year after an oil spillage caused carnage at the head of the field. The Z Speed Racing privateer managed to avoid the carnage caused as a result to lie second when the red flag was deployed – giving him the title in the process.
