Former British Touring Car Championship regular David Leslie is believed to be one of the five that perished in a light aircraft crash in Kent on Sunday.

According to reports by Sky Sports Leslie was killed along with sportscar boss Richard Lloyd and pilot Mike Roberts.

Two other people have yet to be named.

The incident happened at around 14.30 BST, when the Cessna Citation 1 jet came down in a housing estate in Farnborough. No-one on the ground was seriously injured.

The plane had taken off from Biggin Hill airfield nearby and was bound for France, when the pilot made an emergency call and asked for permission to land again due to severe engine problems.

"Unfortunately it crashed before reaching the airport," Andrew Walters, chairman of Biggin Hill Airport told BBC News.

Air accident inspectors were sent to the scene, but the investigation has now been suspended and will resume on Monday.

The bodies have yet to be recovered.

The victims have not be formally identified either.

More to follow as and when it becomes avaliable.
