Robertshaw Racing has announced that it will carry its own personal tribute to David Leslie and Richard Lloyd during the second round of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend at Rockingham.
The pair died, along with three others, when their private aircraft came down on a house in Farnborough on the same day that the new BTCC campaign was getting underway at
Brands Hatch.
Both will be remembered with a minutes applause on the grid ahead of the opening race of the weekend at Rockingham but Robertshaw will carry its own personal tribute on the cars of Matt Allison and Harry Vaulkhard.
Lloyd himself drove a Chevrolet during his BTCC career in the 1970s, while Leslie had close links to the RML team that runs the Lacetti WTCC programme, with Ray Mallock's squad having been in charge of the Ecurie Ecosse and Nissan programmes that the Scot was part of in the 1990s.
We thought that it would be appropriate to mark Richard's Chevrolet victories and David's achievements with RML on the current cars for this weekend where a tribute will also be held on the grid before the first race, Robertshaw team principal Gary Robertshaw said. The team would also like to express it's condolences to the families and friends of Richard Lloyd, David Leslie and those who lost their lives in this tragic accident.
