After the disappointment of Rockingham last time out, Mike and Andrew Jordan will be chasing a solid run on home soil as the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship heads to Donington Park for the third round of the year.
The pair have extra reason to chase success at the East Midlands circuit with team title sponsors John Guest also supporting race day during the third round of the year and will hope to return to the form displayed during the season opener at
Brands Hatch.
Then, both drivers were able to finish inside the points with Mike coming close to a podium in the final race of the weekend, but Rockingham proved to be a huge disappointment as Mike suffered a rare engine failure on his Honda Integra and Andrew was beset by gearbox gremlins all through the day.
"The team worked brilliantly at Rockingham," Mike said. "The problems with my car centred on a very, very rare engine failure.
"Donington has always been a good circuit for me; one of the best, and I love going there to race. It is one of my favourite tracks on the BTCC schedule. The corners flow really well, so the brakes aren't working too hard. But I make up to 26 gear changes per lap at
Donington, so it's always a busy lap!"
Ahead of the weekend, Jordan Jr was one of three drivers – along with
Mat Jackson and Adam Jones – to take a trip to Drayton Manor, where the trio sampled some of the most exhilarating rides on offer at the Staffordshire theme park.
"I think the rides have softened up Mat and Adam a bit – they screamed all the way through," he said. "They're real wimps, which can only play to my advantage at the weekend!"
