Team48 delays its debut for the third time.

Team48 Motorsport has announced that it will once again delay its debut into the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship after electing to miss this weekend's rounds at Donington Park.

The team was due to run two Alfa Romeos for Darelle Wilson and Matthew Gore this season but a series of delays means the team has yet to even hit the track for the first time.

With no indication of when – or indeed if – the team will make it onto the grid during the 2008 campaign, it was little surprise to see the team missing from the paddock on Saturday morning, with a statement issued by team principal Luther Blissett stating that sponsorship issues were behind the latest delays to the programme.

"This season, particularly, was always going to be a testing ground for us," he said. "It is regrettable, therefore, that negotiations with a major sponsor have not proceeded as quickly as we had hoped, which has unexpectedly set us back by a month or two.

"It goes without saying that, when competing in a national championship, it is essential that you go into it fully equipped. There is no doubt that the company, as a whole, has made great headway to get the team to where it is today [and in such a short space of time]. However, once the major sponsorship is fully in place, the team will be ready to compete on the track."
