Mike Jordan is confident that John Guest Racing could spring a surprise as the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship heads to Thruxton this weekend for the fourth round of the season.
After a nightmare weekend at Rockingham, the team rebounded in fine style at
Donington Park during an event backed by long term sponsors John Guest, with son Andrew securing two Independents' victories from the three races at the East Midlands circuit.
With the BTC-spec Honda Integra having proved itself as a potent package around Thruxton in the past, winning five races in two seasons with Team Halfords, Jordan Sr said he was hopeful of making an impression this time around – hopefully without ending his weekend in the barriers as he did during the 2007 season finale.
"The new wishbones will stop any of that nonsense!" he told
Crash.net. "Me and Andy proved in second free practice at Donington that we could work really well together as a team and tow each other along – and if there is one place you need to get a tow then its at
Thruxton.
"We are probably the only two team-mates down the grid who genuinely do want to help each other out as while others say it, they want to beat their team-mates.
"We will practice giving each other a two in the practice sessions and I feel we could surprise a few people."
