Plato will join top Italian chef Gino D'Acampo to go up against motoring journalist Tom Ford and acclaimed Belfast chef Paul Rankin – with Plato producing a sirloin steak, tomatoes, carrots, brandy and his favourite veg, savoy cabbage from his bag ahead of 20 minutes of frantic cooking time.

"The one thing that surprised me more than anything was the chefs genuinely don't know what's in the shopping bags beforehand and we only have twenty minutes to make the dishes," he said. "It's pretty hectic, and important to have a dish that looks good and tastes nice! The professional chefs are extremely skilled and I have even more respect for them now, having worked in a kitchen with Gino.

"The time flew by so quickly, I barely had enough time to get a pan out, let alone cook anything – but to be fair, I did chop everything up, even things I didn't have too and wasn't supposed too! It was a great experience and really good fun."
