Jason Plato has taken his second win of the season ahead of the fourth round of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship – but this time, away from the race track.
The SEAT Sport UK driver appeared on the
BBC2 cookery show
Ready Steady Cook alongside motoring journalist Tom Ford – who works with Plato in his role as a presenter on
Fifth Gear.
Working alongside top Italian chef Gino D'Acampo, Plato helped rustle up spicy carrot soup, bruschetta and Italian sirloin steak, accompanied by fried savoy cabbage, potato tower and a beef burger from the ingredients he provided for the show.
As well as picking up the
Ready Steady Cook winner's plate, Plato also received £100 which has been donated the way of the charity
Sparks - which funds medical research into all conditions and disabilities affecting children, with the aim of ensuring that all babies are born healthy and stay healthy.
"There was no competition really," Plato said. "Even though Tom tried to get the sympathy vote by walking on crutches, the audience clearly knew top food when they saw it!
"Gino is a great guy and we got on really well in the kitchen. I did put coriander into the beef burger mix instead of parsley, put too much garlic on the bruschetta and the spicy soup almost blew my head off, but it all worked out very well..."
