Team Halfords driver Gordon Shedden has given a passenger ride to a special guest after being joined in his Honda Civic by Jack Sears at Knockhill.

Sears, the first man to secure the British Touring Car Championship title back in 1958, climbed into the Team Halfords Honda alongside Shedden at the recent Classic Speedfair event held at the Scottish circuit – with Sheeden being told not to take it easy when he hit the track.

"Clearly I knew who I'd got sitting alongside me – the first-ever BTCC champion and someone who'd been team-mate to Jim Clark in touring cars," he said.

"I did ask if he wanted to cruise around and see where the track went but he told me to get on with it and then just kept sticking his thumb up. It was quick enough to be entertaining and he seemed to love it.

"For a 78-year-old Jack is still very young at heart. He's very clued up about racing cars and motor sport. It was like taking a VIP around but, even though I'd not really chatted to him before, also an old friend...that's how Jack makes you feel."
