Mat Jackson is hoping rain will descend on Snetterton for the latest round of the HiQ British Touring Car Championship this weekend as he aims to repeat his astonishing back-to-front drive last time out at Croft.

Although Jackson's has experienced a number of crests and troughs this season, the BMW Dealer Team UK driver very much hit a high at Croft when he defied treacherous weather conditions to finish second from 18th on the grid.

A result that helps him back up to third in both the overall and independent drivers' championships, Jackson is hoping the rain will reappear in Norfolk as he bids to close down the gap to Fabrizio Giovanardi and Matt Neal directly ahead of him.

“The test at Snetterton has helped us gain some knowledge which we will capitalise on when we return to the circuit,” he said. “No doubt the weather will have a part to play in the weekend's proceedings; if it is heavy rain we should repeat the Croft success. Either way, it will be good to get back behind the wheel and get racing again.”

Heading into the second half of the season, team principal Chris Tee believes Jackson's form at Croft will be an indicator to how the remainder of the year will pan out.

“We finished the first half of the season on a good result and we now need to build upon that for the remainder of the series.

“Hopefully we have had our share of misfortune in the first half of the year and we can now concentrate on consistently finishing high in the points to improve on our Championship standings.”
