Martyn Bell will look to bounce back from a tough weekend at Snetterton as the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship heads to
Oulton Park for the seventh round of the year.
Bell found himself in the wars last time out at the wheel of his Arkas Racing with Sunshine.co.uk Astra Sport Hatch after he was involved in a heavy accident in the opening race of the weekend when he went off into the tyres trying to avoid a spinning John George.
Despite being battered and bruised following the 108mph shunt, Bell managed to secure two finishes in the second and third races of the weekend and said he was ready to get back behind the wheel for the latest rounds of the campaign.
"Following the accident at
Snetterton, I was feeling a bit battered and bruised but it'll take more than that to hold us down and I'm ready to go this weekend," he said. "If we've had any luck this season, it's been bad luck and we've been involved in other people's accidents on more than one occasion. However, justice will prevail and we live to fight another day."
Bell has gone well at Oulton Park in the past and scored his first points of the 2007 season at the Cheshire venue – something he will be keen to try and repeat this time around in an effort to repay the Tech-speed run team for its hard work to get him back out on track at Snetterton a fortnight ago.
"Oulton Park is a very challenging circuit and it is one where I have always gone well in the past," he said. "The circuit suits my style and I think it is one that will suit the Astra more with its undulations and curves, as it is the long straights at places like
Thruxton and Snetterton where the car tends to struggle.
"The Astra isn't getting any younger but we know what it is capable of and we are working hard to get the best from it. We are working well as a team and if we can stay out of trouble in the opening laps of the races, then I'd love to get a good result for the unsung heroes behind the scenes who work so hard on a race weekend to keep me and Erkut running.
