Q&A: James Winslow.

Wednesday, 26th December 2007

British Champ Car hopeful talks to Crash.net Radio about his successful 2007 season and the push to be racing in the USA next year.

Twelve months ago, James Winslow was Britain's secret champion, gaining headlines more for saving the life of a fellow driver than winning the Asian F3 title. One year on, and he appears to have finally broken through, with another crown to his name and likely future in the United States.

Crash.net:
We spoke to you around this time last year, when you had won the Asian F3 title and made the headlines around the world for saving the life of another driver, but, since then, things appear to have really taken off for you?

James Winslow:
It's been a good season for me. I've basically been competing in Australia in F3 and also in the Formula Renault V6 series over in Asia, so I've had a real busy season. I've won races in both series and managed to win the championship in V6 as well so, compared to last year, I've managed to add another title to the CV, which is always good, and everything is going in the right direction.

Crash.net:
We'll talk about the V6 series in a minute because, obviously, you started your season in Australia, in the F3 series there. Was it a conscious decision to stay in F3 after your success in the Asian series, or were you looking elsewhere but found that that was your best option when it came down to it?

JW:
I was looking elsewhere of course, but my best option was Australia because I was going to be backed by Opes Prime. They were very keen to have a successful season in Australian F3 and expand their brand in Australia and get heavily involved in the racing, so they brought me over to assist with that.
