The second round at Oschersleben was just a complete disaster for us. I was unfortunate in that I couldn’t use my car from Hockenheim; it was too badly damaged in the accident, which meant we had to revert to using the other car, and from the minute that ran we had problems. We had limited running on the Friday, and when you miss some track time like that you are always on the back foot – everybody else is progressing with their set-up and their pace, whereas you haven’t even started yet. We managed to change a few things on the Saturday night which helped a little bit for the race, but we were off the pace the whole weekend.
Sometimes you just have bad weekends like that; you just have to be motivated and determined enough to pick yourself up and get back on top again. I have a lot of faith in my team, Gerhard and Norbert. They have all given me a very good opportunity to do well, because the 2005 car is definitely capable – as Paul di Resta has shown – of scoring points. Overall I think we have a really good chance this year. There’s no reason why I can’t get out there and score some points too. Oschersleben was a completely disappointing weekend, but it’s behind me now and I’m just looking forward to the next race.
That will take place at the Eurospeedway Lausitz in Eastern Germany this coming weekend. Normally a circuit is known as either an Audi track or a Mercedes track, but Lausitz is a little bit in the middle. Oschersleben was always known as an Audi track but we beat them there, while Hockenheim was traditionally believed to be a Mercedes circuit but Audi beat us at it. Lausitz hasn’t really got a Mercedes or Audi label yet.
