Team Mücke struggled at both Oschersleben and Lausitz last year, not just with my car but with the other two runners as well, so we know we’ve got a lot of work to do when we get there. We haven’t got a good base set-up to start from, so it will be a case of getting stuck in right from the word go and trying to get ourselves onto the pace. My aim for every weekend is to make at least the second part of qualifying and to score points. The problem is, that’s the aim of 19 other drivers out there on the circuit as well, but I just need to remain consistent.
After Lausitz we have the sole British round of the season at
Brands Hatch, which I’m very much looking forward to. I was there last week for the press day, and everyone is already getting really excited about it. It’s a tough circuit and we do I think 84 laps, which isn’t easy because when the tyres start to go off it’s a case of just trying to hang on and bring the car home. The championship is looking really good at the front too; there’s nobody that’s running away with it, so I think it’s going to be a really good race there.
I was also lucky enough to be picked to take part in Mercedes’ Mobil 1 comparison sequence at
Silverstone recently, which was really interesting. I was driving the new C-Class; Bernd Mayländer was in his safety car, the CLK63 AMG; my team-mate Jamie Green was in his DTM machine; and
Fernando Alonso brought his
Formula 1 car.
