Susie Stoddart: Time to turn promise into points.

Wednesday, 4th July 2007

Mercedes' DTM ace Susie Stoddart has had a lean time of things in the first half of the 2007 campaign, with no points on the scoreboeard to show for her efforts. That though, as she explains, does not tell the full story...

After what happened at Lausitz the series organisers have made some changes in subsequent races regarding the way the safety car works with its lights so the drivers can be more well-informed. It has helped, but at the end of the day there are still some things to be worked on, because even at the Norisring there were a few mistakes made by drivers which they should have been black-flagged for yet weren’t. I think they just have to aim for a bit more consistency.

Overall the year has been very frustrating for me so far because all the ingredients have been there to score points and have good race results, but we haven’t actually turned them into good race results through one thing or another. We’re halfway through the season now and I think we all need to sit down before the next race and really bring everything together and focus on trying to get some good results and points in the bag.

In the meantime I’m really looking forward to being a guest of McLaren-Mercedes at the British Grand Prix this weekend. It will be nice to go to Silverstone and see some familiar faces, and I’ve got quite a few interviews lined up in the exhibition area too. It should be a great weekend, and I hope McLaren will carry on their success story.

I don’t want to be too obvious about who might win the race, but for sure I have a huge hunch, as I think everyone in the whole world does. I do hope Fernando gets back on-track because he is a really nice guy and deserves a chance, but for sure Lewis is going to be a hard man to beat around Silverstone.

I’ll speak to you again soon,

Susie
