A new, and potentially dramatic, venue is next on the schedule for DTM rookie Katherine Legge, as the season moves quickly on to its fourth round at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz.
The eastern German venue was created in a bid to attract the Champ Car World Series to Germany, and provides an imposing backdrop to the hard-fought tin-top series, which makes a rapid return to action - and German soil - after an away day at scenic Mugello. For Legge, however, the round provides an all-new challenge as she faces getting to grips with a road course built into the infield - and using a section - of the superspeedway oval.
Legge, of course, has prior experience at oval circuits, having raced at the UK's Rockingham equivalent before her three-year stint in the United States, where she racked up a new record for female performance on the Milwaukee Mile.
"I'm already really looking forward to the EuroSpeedway – even though it's a circuit that I've never driven on," the TME Futurecom Audi driver commented, "The track looks as if it should be a lot of fun to learn."
Showing signs of improvement with every round, Legge will be hoping that the moveable feast that is the DTM's ballasting regime might help to move her and team-mate Christijan Albers further into the fight this weekend.
The newest Audi A4 DTM remains unbeaten on German soil - even if it did succumb to rival Mercedes in Italy - and the marque is confident that its run can continue this weekend, even if the four cars fielded by Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline must again race with ten kilos success ballast more than the Three Pointed Star. From Legge's point of view, the addition of ballast to the year-old A4s -which are also heavier than their rivals from Stuttgart - might make her two-year old machine more competitive.
