Briton encouraged by more competitive race showing.

Despite a disappointing start to her fourth weekend as an official Audi DTM squad member, Katherine Legge left EuroSpeedway Lausitz hoping that there might be light at the end of the tunnel.

The Briton had hoped that her two-year old A4 DTM might be closer to the weight-penalised cars usually making up the front of the pack, but struggled for pace in the early part of the weekend at another circuit unfamiliar to her.

"So far, this hasn't been my best weekend," she admitted after qualifying 19th on the grid, "The EuroSpeedway is a difficult circuit, and qualifying was terrible for us. I didn't put a lap together and the car was suffering with big entry oversteer. I made too many mistakes as a result of pushing too hard, although I think that some of my problems have come from attacking too much, especially in the braking areas. You can't do that in these cars because of weight transfer, so I have had to adapt my driving a bit."

Despite her woes, Legge was happier with the #20 TME Futurecom car over longer distances on both Friday and Saturday morning, and looked to Sunday's race with a little more optimism. Things didn't get off to the best of starts but, having avoided the opening lap incidents involving fellow Audi drivers Tom Kristensen and Markus Winkelhock, she enjoyed a more competitive outing before coming home in 15th place.

"The start was awful, I couldn't see the lights so ended up sitting on the grid until everyone else moved!" Legge admitted, "After that, I was stuck behind Susie [Stoddart] for a stint - she was really good at defending with her car troubles and it took me a while to get past. I was getting frustrated because I saw [team-mate Christijan] Albers and Schuey [Ralf Schumacher] pulling away a bit.

"We had an okay pit-stop, and ran quite a long second stint, but unfortunately we had lost a bit of time to the cars ahead, so it was just a case of trying to pull them in. In the last stint, though, our times were actually quite competitive, and that gives us hope moving forward because we keep improving.
