Bruno Spengler is looking to get his 2008 DTM title charge underway at the Norisring, the scene of his maiden victory two years ago.
As was the case last season, the first four races have not gone to plan for Spengler, with just 14 points coming his way as team-mates Paul di Resta and Jamie Green quickly establishe themselves as Mercedes' leading hopes.
Nonetheless, Spengler has high hopes at the Norisring after winning his first race there in 2006, a result that kick-started a run of form that very nearly saw him snatch the title.
He also won there last season and is now hoping a similar performance this year will help propel him into the championship reckoning before Mercedes consider piling all of their resources into di Resta and Green.
“I have a lot of fond memories of the Norisring. I like the circuit and the unique atmosphere with so many fans and there I celebrated my first DTM win two years ago.
“With 14 points out of four races and sixth place overall, the 2008 season started everything but ideal for me. However, there are still 70 points to be scored and my plan is to score as many as possible to be at the very front in the end.“
