Katherine Legge sees her 100 per cent finishing record come to an end at Zandvoort.

There was no late birthday gift for Katherine Legge when the DTM made its annual trip to the north coast of Holland, with the Zandvoort circuit bringing an end to the Briton's 100 per cent finishing record.

Legge had hoped for more after recording her best qualifying result to date on her birthday on Saturday, lining up just two places behind Futurecom TME team-mate - and local hero - Christijan Albers in 16th spot as recent changes to the weight limit of the 2006 A4 DTM paid off.

"I'm pleased with my best result in DTM qualifying," the 28-year old admitted on Saturday evdning, "First, it looked as though I might be able to make it into second qualifying but, unfortunately, my car started oversteering. However, if we manage to get a handle on this by tomorrow, we should have some chances in the race tomorrow."

While Audi stablemate Mattias Ekstrom was able to celebrate his 30th birthday the day after the race by heading home a 1-2-3-4 finish for the marque, Legge's luck ran out with the last crumbs of her birthday cake - which arrived, in typical motorsport fashion, in the face of the unsuspecting driver courtesy of Albers during a celebration at the circuit.

The start of the race proved to be Legge's undoing, as contact damaged the TME Futurecom A4 and, although she soldiered on in an effort to score some points, the Hofmuhl car cried enough with four laps remaining.

"After the start, my car got damaged and was hard to drive," she revealed, "In the end, I was forced to retire when it felt like something let go on the left rear. That's really too bad because I think I could have achieved a pretty good result here."
