The DTM is to promote its forthcoming race at Le Mans with a parade through some of Paris' most well-known streets.

While F1 commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone to dream about running a French Grand Prix through the streets of Paris, the DTM series will follow swiftly in the wheeltracks of national favourite Sebastien Bourdais and actually put a car - or cars - on the cobbles.

Bourdais recent demonstration drive in the Toro Rosso F1 car will be quadrupled for spectacle when the DTM prefaces its Le Mans round next month with a four-car display and photo opportunity on some of Paris' most famous boulevards.

Audi works drivers Alexandre Prémat and Tom Kristensen will be joined by Mercedes-Benz counterparts Ralf Schumacher ad Bruno Spengler to drive their 500bhp race cars from the Place Dauphine to the Place de Varsovie on Friday 25 September as the series gears up for its penultimate round, on the Le Mans Bugatti circuit, early next month. In addition, the two official DTM safety cars - an Audi R8 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG - will also make an appearance.

The convoy will depart the Place du Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny - also known as Place Dauphine - at 1045hrs and proceed through such well-known streets and squares such as Avenue Foch, Place Charles de Gaulle, Boulevard Haussmann, Place de la Concorde - completing a lap in front of the FIA offices - the Champs Elysées, Avenue W Churchill, Place des Invalides and Avenue de New York to arrive at the Place de Varsovie just over half an hour later.

Once safely at their destination, the cars will be lined up for a photoshoot in front of the world famous Eiffel Tower before a press conference to raise awareness of the impending race weekend.

“We just couldn't have wished for a better advertising campaign for the race at Le Mans,” said series rights holder and promoter Hans Werner Aufrecht, “DTM demonstrations in the cities – in the heart of the public – have a long tradition. Nonetheless, an appearance on the streets of Paris most definitely will represent a very special highlight!”
