Toyota are up around with
Renault, but I think what will probably disturb them most is that
Williams are there too, using the same engine. That highlights that maybe Williams are a little bit in front on the chassis side of things, and that has got to put the works team under additional pressure.
I said at the start of the season that Williams could probably get some strong results and I think that is still the case. They will be mixing it up in that upper midfield area, perhaps with
Red Bull in there too.
There is not much to say on the rest, but I guess we should mention
Honda. In a way, they are a bit like Renault because it hasn’t gone the way they were all expecting and intending it to go.
Honda, for sure, must be scratching their heads and wondering what the problems are. We know they will have some revisions to the car this weekend and they expect it to be better. The race at Barcelona may actually be beneficial for them too and the car may suit the circuit slightly better than some of the other tracks we have had previously. We might see some improved form, but it may flatter to deceive when we go elsewhere.
So, in summary, I think it is clear the top places will be filled out by the McLarens and Ferraris and, if I was to place a bet, my money would be on Alonso, with Kimi and Lewis on the podium alongside.
Then I would go for Massa,
Nick Heidfeld and I’ll stick my neck out here and opt for
Jenson Button in sixth.
Enjoy the grand prix...
