Or at least
Adrian Sutil did after Christijan Albers retired in rather bizarre circumstances after driving out of the pit lane with the fuel hose still attached, a mistake that certainly did little ease rumours of his future with the team.
On the plus side, Sutil was again in good form as he heads to circuits that he is more familiar with, the German now regularly getting the better of his more experienced team-mate and in turn is reportedly beginning to cause a stir for Formula 1’s various talent scouts.
Back to this weekend though and Spyker will be taking part in what is effectively their home grand prix given that the Dutch team is based not so far from
Silverstone. As such, the team have completed many miles around the circuit and can probably feel more confident here than they can anywhere else. If the current car has scope for surprise, then it is here where it will produce it…
Super Aguri F1 – Takuma Sato (#22), Anthony Davidson (#23):
The fourth of the British quartet set to be cheered along this weekend, Anthony Davidson has been waiting a long time to be given the chance to race in front of his home fans. In fact it will be the first time he has raced on British soil since 2001 when he competed in British Formula 3.
Although his points tally doesn’t represent this, Davidson is certainly keeping the in form Takuma Sato honest this season and there is no better opportunity to sneak into the second knockout phase and generally out pace the Japanese driver – who beat him to that British Formula 3 title six years ago – this weekend. Indeed, the Brit is content with his performances so far this year.
“I am feeling good about my performances at the races so far. I am at the level where I wanted to be and achieved the results that I wanted to have. Without a little bit of bad luck here and there I would have had points in the bag, so I have taken even more pressure off myself in that respect. I am looking forward to the rest of the season and getting even more out of myself in the races to come.
