On the same day that Honda confirmed the signing of Ross Brawn as its new team principal, the Briton's former employers Ferrari has also made changes to its technical team.
Frankly, I think that's good news. JT does not represent what Ferrari *should* be about and I for one am glad to see his reign come to an end.
Hands up everyone who think a by-product of this will be Massa pushed to the side and FA slotted into a so called 'dream team'. If that happens, my money is on the Kimster to rule the prancing horse in 2008.

so Ferrari are forging ahead with their plan to have an 'all-Italian' team. Only time will tell if they will be able to pull it off.

Looks as if all JT rants over the year have upset some of his bosses, & as a result he is being put in a position where he can do as little damage as possible to Ferrari.
Won't it be good not to see the whinging little man on the pit wall next year

that's a good point raised by Ian. JT is not very decorative, but I suppose some of you chaps might think his shortcomings(!)are made up for by Michelle Yeo's presence. all I know is I can't wait to see Ross back up there.

Quite amazing, don't you think - They were ready to get rid of Todt, but still didn't manage to find a place for Ross B in the management. Much of the press coverage has led us to believe that Todt's refusal to retire was the main reason why RB was unable to find the right job at Maranello. How wrong they were.
I reckon there will come a time during 2008 where Ferrari will regret that one...
No-one can blame him for moving to Honda - I say best of luck, Ross. M

Or maybe he was seen as too close to Mr Stepney to bring back into the fold....

i doubt that JT will retire. i have a feeling a team like toyota could snatch him up or maybe he will join different formulae. imagine, JT at peugeot in the le mans series.

Jean Todt did a lot to bring Ferrari back to the top of the game in F1. I don't think anyone can seriosuly question his commitment or achievemnets at that team, but the time is right for him to step aside. The end of the Schumacher-Todt-Brawn era only needs completion by Mr. Schumacher walking away for good! No more testing and mucking around at the tracks. Let Ferrari move into their new era.

I agree Matt, not saying he Stepney and Coughlan were planning a dream team but it seems rather strange, anyway enough of theory good luck to honda and I hope they go do well

Great to see Ferrari going towards all-Italian line-up. Won't be long before they're in demise again.

Everyone seems to forget how amazingly successful Jean Todt has been in all branches of motor sport. As a competitor, he was a world champion rally co-driver. As a manager, first he won the world rally championship for Peugeot, then he took Peugeot into cross country rallies and won the Paris-Dakar. After that, he took Peugeot racing at Le Mans and won yet again. Only when he could not persuade Peugeot to go Formula One did he leave and join Ferrari. The rest, 7 Constructors' Championships and 6 Drivers' Championships, is history. If he still has the energy and the enthusiasm, he would be a great catch for Toyota, Red Bull, Force India or any other team with the money to do the job properly.

What I find interesting about all this, is that Nigel Stepney and Mike Coughlan jointly had talks with Nick Fry of Honda (whether any documents were shown is open to conjecture) Nigel Stepney was Ross Brawn's blue eyed boy, and now Brawn has gone to Honda. Spygate 3 anyone?
well, well, well - looks like Napolean has met his waterloo. At least he wont be nicking the chairs from the paddock anymore so he can see over the wall.Good night josephine!

I think a year ago JT said that he only manage the Ferrari F1 for one year since he appointed to be managing director of Ferrari Masserati as the assistant of Luca, his job is more than F1 including another Ferrari racing in other ground. So I think he just need 2007 to prepare SD as his successor

Opens the door for Alonso to ferrari / massa to toro rosso scenario, isn't it??
Can you imagine Ron Dennis face when he will find out....priceless!!!
Remember it is F1, everything is possible, even to lose money on Hamiltom.....LOL

Thank goodness Mr. Todt is stepping down. It is time for a change over in Maranello.

No argument about what JT has achieved. Just the way he has gone about doing it.

Pramce is probably the one closer to reality. JT wanted to retire a year ago but the changes introduced after Schumacher and Brawn era needed to do it in the smoothest way. No matter how, they won again after two years and he was very happy (proud?) for that achievement. Now it is time to leave other people do the job. Though the names in the team are mainly Italian now, the group will stay international as it has been in the past. The good thing for them is that Mr Costa proved to be able to design a winning car and the fear for a quick (or slow) demise can be set aside. For a while, at least. Let's now see what they will do next year.. and the drivers too!

any way! JT has achieved both champuionship in ferrari. Only Brown achieved the same.
But the liability of his cars is questionnable
